Throwing Away Last Christmas' Chocolate

Along with my piles of magazines that I no longer want (please feel free to take a copy), my office desk at home is buried by expired candies that I once snacked on while I worked but I hated the candies so much that I just pushed them to the corner of my desk.  I didn't throw them away immediately because I hate to waste food that is bought by my hard earned money.  I thought they could come in handy during a natural disaster when I could be trapped in my apartment, waiting for FEMA's rescue.  But today, my desk is so taken over by clutter that I can no longer work on it anymore.  I'm sick and tired of having to work on my dining table, so I'm starting to throw away my expired candies.  The first to go was this bad tasting chocolate that I bought at Home Goods for $3.99+Tax.  I bought it because it looked so dainty and it was a product of the UK.  It just seemed exotic to try out  foreign candies during Christmas.  Yet I hated how the chocolate tasted after the first piece.  I just didn't like the coating of the chocolate.  It's so waxy and it tasted such strong food coloring.  I don't like  to taste food coloring in any food.  In my opinion, this chocolate is  also of poor quality. This chocolate didn't taste good when it was many months before its "Best Use Date".  It tasted somewhat stale even back then.  But I marched on to try to finish it over the course of 2 months.  I stopped trying eventually because I hated it too much.  I just couldn't finish it. Now Christmas 2017 is coming soon, it will be crazy of me if I still hang on to these expired chocolate.  I just had to toss them into trash and I did.

I feel guilty about tossing away chocolates.  But I can't really recycle snacks because how can I give such awful chocolates away? I won't, even if they weren't expired.  So the trash can is the only place where I can send them to, no matter how guilty I feel..  If you have a better suggestion on what I can do with my expired candies instead of throwing them in trash, please let me know.
